True Beauty Is Effortless....

This may be true, but sometimes it's nice to get all dolled up. Today we are all somewhat influenced by the expensive taste of the rich && famous. With that being said, welcome to a little piece of my world where High Society fashion meets a Middle Class budget...Enjoy!

Shay's Self Help: "Why he always...."

OK LADIES! My girls and I always used to always complain about guys doing something annoying that really got on our LAST nerves. A classic line I hear all the time begins with "Why he always..." It could be "Why he always textin in front of me?" or "Why he always goin out to the club?"....Whatever your "Why he always" ends with, remember this: IT'S BECAUSE YOU LET HIM.

Now please don't get me wrong...I'm not talking about being some control-type-of-female. What I mean is that when you first start dating a guy, you might think it's ok to let "some stuff slide" that you're uncomfortable with because you don't want him to think you're uptight or crazy. BUT WHY? Ladies, why waste time letting him do something you are clearly uncomfortable with? If it's something reasonable like texting while you're trying to have a convo, THEN TELL HIM! Never sit there and give that dumb smile like everything is ok, if it's not. If he's goin to the club everytime he gets an invite on facebook then TELL HIM you would like to go out on that Thirsty Thursday. 9 times out of 10 he won't mind doing someting different for a change. If you get mad because he never says thank you or asks for things in a nice way then TELL HIM...let him know that you feel kinda disrespected. Most guys aren't being rude intentionally, they are just so used to not having to have proper manners that they have gotten comfortable.

The key in any "TELL HIM" situation is to remember these two things.
1) Don't wait til it's too late- if a guy sees that you don't (or are acting like you don't) care about his actions then why is he going to change? To him, it seems that you are satisfied...MEN ARE NOT MIND READERS & they have NO DESIRE to try because that is just extra work they will never feel like putting in! Be up front with your man at all times...he'll appreciate you.
2) Don't be a B*TCH about it- if you are going to keep it 100 with your feelings about his bad habit then don't be rude. Let him know why you are irritated without the eyes rollin, neck rollin, hand gestures, and the infamous suckin your teeth. Guys tense up and automatically get on the defense when they see you getting an attitude.

Reign of the 'Boyfriend Blazer'

For the past year and a half, the oversized blazer has been a quick and easy way to make an average-everyday outfit look dressy & chic! Personally, I LOVE my boyfriend blazers because they come in handy at school or work. Let's say you have a presentation for class and you don't want to come in a business suit, but you DO want to look classy and cute. Throw on you BF blazer with a casual cocktail dress or nice dark jeans with pumps and you're ready to go! The most common BF blazer I see is the simple black (like Rihanna is wearing to the left). My first one was solid black, with the cuffed sleeves revealing the white & lightly pinstriped interior. It was kind of long, covering almost all of my butt. It was not that loose in the sleeves and shoulders, I didn't want it to be too oversized because of my upper body shape. (I have of broad shoulders) It's IMPORTANT to know what complements your body type!!! Now, even though it's summer you can still find ways to incorporate the BF blazer into your wardrobe....pastel colors and white will make you definitely make you stand out.

Once you get tracks...it's hard to go back!

Ok Ok Ok....I admit, before college I was one of the biggest protesters against ANYTHING fake. This includes but not limited to eyelashes, nails, & especially hair! However, going off to school allowed me to meet so many different females from various backgrounds who all had the same thing in common: they wanted to look GOOD, on a decent budget! Now one of the first things I noticed about my new classmates is that they all (for the most part) kept their hair done. For a second I thought they must of all had a lot of money to be goin to the salon everyday, but as the year progressed I learned that a lot of them wore tracks that they either put in themselves or got their friends to do it. I was fascinated! Lol

YES I was curious, but I didn't get tracks until my sophomore year, for homecoming. I was so paranoid that it wouldn't look right that I paid over $200 to get it done at a salon! Although it came out nice, later on I realized that I could have gotten one of the girls on my campus to do it for free! Ugh...to this day I get mad at myself lol Anyways, this is what my first weave looked like. It's a half head, sewn in. The stylist made tiny cornrows going horizontally from ear to ear, he left out about an inch and a half of hair out between each row.The top crown of my hair is all left out. I can't remember the type of hair I used, but it was 100% human at $38.99 a pack (14 inch). It looks shorter because he razored it for a layered look. Oh yea, and I died my hair jet black to match the color which is a 1.

Never Thought I'd See the Day...

Yessss...in the spring of 2010 I actually found a pair of wedges that I liked. I was never a huge fan of wedges...idk why but they never really appealed to me UNTIL NOW! Originally Cynthia Vincent desinged a cute pair of tan gladiator styled wedges with 6 strapped buckles...Jessica Sipmson (who is one of the shoe worlds' newest designers) came out with her very own version that at $85, is an incredible steal compared to Vincent's $405 pair!

Simpson has truly made some amazing contributions in 2010. These are just of few of her collections' most sassy && stylish shoes this season...

&& The :White Zippers" are my personal fav...I'll be adding these to my collection very soon :-)

D E U C E S *

Ok, of course I was not a fan of C.Brown after he brutally disrespected a female HOWEVER, I must give credit where it is due. Here is his video with the SexySkinnyTyga...I LOVE love LOVE black & white :-)

I Finally Stopped Procrastinating!

Yes!....I finally stopped being lazy and started my blog. After seeing many inspiring ones, I decided that my thoughts and feelings should be broadcasted as well. I will mostly spend my time posting my favorite designers' fashions and how you can get a similar look for the "low"....also I'll cover music and random food from time to time! Besos* (& that's "Kisses" in Spanish...ok?)
